3 week Dr. visit

We went to Chase's three week Dr. visit today. He is now weighing in at 9 lbs 9 oz. That is more than a pound and a half increase from his birth weight. This kid is growing so fast! He is also now 22.3" long (4.3" longer than his birth length).

We survived!

We just survived two nights of Chase's first power outage. At just after midnight Sunday night someone ran into a power pole over by the stadium and knocked the power out for the whole University with out apartments included. We spent the night trying to find our flashlights, changing diapers in the dark, trying to warm bottles up to Chase's satisfaction with warm water from the tap, and worst of all trying to survive with no heat. It was a rough night. The power didn't come back on until 12 hours later, and 10 degrees cooler. Chase and I both bundled up with the warmest cloths we could find (his little bear suit) and as many blankets as we could.

Last night we went out shopping and arrived home 5 minutes to 10. When I checked the answering machine we had a message letting us know that they power would be turned off from 10:00-4:00 so they could fix the power pole. We ran frantically trying to set things up for another dark night and barely got some water warmed up for his next bottle.

I now have even greater sympathy for the people in the mid-U.S. who have had no power for days... I never thought power outages where that big of a deal.

Thanks to Dalen and Tiffany for this cute outfit. Unfortunately Chase is growing so fast that the first time I tried it on him it was way too big, and now as you can see the sleeves are way too short. They're not kidding when they say "kids grow up so fast!"

For some reason, no matter what direction we are facing, Chase likes to look upside down and behind him. I guess he just gets bored with looking forward!?!?!

Today I asked Daniel to watch Chase while I took a short nap. When I woke up, I found the two of them reading The Cat in the Hat. Chase was just as into it as Daniel was. I couldn't help but take a picture.

Happy Birthday Chase

Chase was born on November 26, 2007, 5 days before he was due. After a long exhausting day in the hospital Daniel and I were introduced to the sweet little boy that has been residing in my tummy. We were pleased by his full head of light brown beautiful hair. He came into this world with his steel blue eyes wide open and hardly closed them for 2 whole days. We are so thrilled to have him with us and love him more than we could have imagined.
