Boating

For my birthday we bought a small inflatable raft and took it out on Stansbury lake.  When we moved out here we didn't even know that there was a lake, but it turns out it's only 2-3 blocks from our house.  I have been wanted to get out on there ever since.   

We were in good company- little baby ducks.

A quick trip to Vegas

...and by quick I mean we were only there for 4 hours.   It was a little crazy with 19 total hours spent driving that weekend- my tailbone has never been that sore!

The food was good (The Grand Lux Cafe- yum!), our seats to Phantom of the Opera were amazing (think chandelier falling right on our heads!), and the company was great.

Totally worth the driving!

Slave Labor

When you don't live close enough to the beach to sand bath, you just have to make do with what you have.

Preschool Graduation

 Oh yeah, This big kid graduated preschool.... about a month ago. (I'm a little behind.)  And technically he's going back again next year to another preschool. 

 These kids were all part of the little co-op preschool that we did.   I'm going to miss seeing them in my house, but thankfully they all live close by.

Chase learned so much and enjoyed each of his teachers and friends in preschool.

Family Picture time

 

We went and took some family pictures over Memorial Day.  I know they aren't perfect, but considering I was taking them (and trying to be in them :) I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.  Do you have a favorite?

More science

 Put baking soda inside the balloon, and vinegar in the water bottle.  Hook the balloon onto the mouthpiece of  the water bottle and let the baking soda fall in.  Watch the balloon blow up. Then repeat... again.... and again... and again.

The man of my dreams

 The man who brought those other two loves into my life.  The man who made me understand the phrases "my other half" and "my better half".  The man who taught and is teaching me how to get through the hard times.  The man who has stood by my side for 7 years through the really good times and some really bad times.  The man who I am so lucky to say that I get to spend eternity with!

Multi-use

This can be used to place under an outdoor faucet to send the water away from the house, or as a bed.  You can see which use we get out of it.

Chuck E Cheese was another vacation activity.

 "The paper clips on my toes cut my leg."

"Mom, how much does a phone cost?"
Me: Anywhere from $20-$400 probably.
"I'm never going to buy a phone when I grow up, that's WAY too much money!"
Me: If you don't ever buy a phone how will I talk to you?
"Well, if you would let me borrow yours, I could give it to Daddy to use and then I could have Dads."
He's already got our cheapo gene.

Lagoon

Lagoon was the highlight of our vacation and what Chase had been waiting for since the moment we told him about it.  To him our vacation WAS Lagoon.  The camping and other stuff didn't count.  It was all about Lagoon, and it didn't not disappoint.

The boats were Brody's thing.  We started off with a couple rides we could do as a family with a couple of them being really scary for him.  I felt so bad, but he was happy when we found the boats.  When he would get frustrated over having to wait for Chase on a ride we would split up and one of us would take him back to the boats.

He also loved the water fountains.

We can't go to an amusement park without getting some cotton candy to share!

Brody found some friends when we were waiting for Chase and Dad on a ride.  He went and sat right next to them.  When they would scoot down to get away from him, he would just scoot right on down with them.

The ferris wheel was the first thing Chase wanted to do when we got there.

The whole day Chase walked around with his hat pulled down over his eyes.  I kept pulling it up for him and he would get mad and push it back down.

After Chase went for a round on the bumper cars we thought Brody would like them as well.

Turns out he didn't :)  He got stuck right there by the edge and screamed the whole time.  When someone would bump into him he would give them the stink eye and scream at them.  It was hilarious.... then we took him back to the boats.

We had to drag Chase out of the park shortly before it closed.  His favorite ride was the Rock O Plane (a star shaped ferris wheel where the little cages you sit it could swing around and upside down.  He also loved the roller coasters.  We spent over 8 hours there and he loved every minute of it.  Brody enjoyed certain minutes of it.   We loved watching the boys and their joy as they found rides that they loved.  I couldn't believe how even some of the kiddie rides scared me.  Sometimes I would think that Chase was getting scared and would reach over and grab his hand and he would tell me "don't do that mom.  I'm not scared!"  He was braver than I was.

A movie and a shoping trip

Tuesday we got back from camping.  After we showered we were too tired to do any of our previously planned activities, so we headed over to the Dollar theater to see the Lorax.  The boys were so tired the fell asleep the instant we buckled them in the car.

The movie was good and Chase loved every minute of it.

Brody endured it.


When we originally planned a California trip, we budgeted in a little money for each of the boys to get a souvenir.   Instead we decided to stop at Toy's R Us and let them spend the small amount of money there.

I remember my parents doing the same.  I loved walking up and down every single aisle and checking out all of my options.  I left with a new box of crayons and a coloring book every time.  There isn't much $10 will buy there, as the boys also found out, but they had so much fun looking at EVERYTHING.


Brody LOVES babies.  He can't resist kissing a little baby, and apparently the dolls at the store fit into that category.

He had us laughing the whole time.  This is his "backpack".  When he couldn't fit it on his shoulders he just had to carry it like that.

In the end Brody left with a trucks and Chase left with a nerf gun.
