Lagoon

Lagoon was the highlight of our vacation and what Chase had been waiting for since the moment we told him about it.  To him our vacation WAS Lagoon.  The camping and other stuff didn't count.  It was all about Lagoon, and it didn't not disappoint.

The boats were Brody's thing.  We started off with a couple rides we could do as a family with a couple of them being really scary for him.  I felt so bad, but he was happy when we found the boats.  When he would get frustrated over having to wait for Chase on a ride we would split up and one of us would take him back to the boats.

He also loved the water fountains.

We can't go to an amusement park without getting some cotton candy to share!

Brody found some friends when we were waiting for Chase and Dad on a ride.  He went and sat right next to them.  When they would scoot down to get away from him, he would just scoot right on down with them.

The ferris wheel was the first thing Chase wanted to do when we got there.

The whole day Chase walked around with his hat pulled down over his eyes.  I kept pulling it up for him and he would get mad and push it back down.

After Chase went for a round on the bumper cars we thought Brody would like them as well.

Turns out he didn't :)  He got stuck right there by the edge and screamed the whole time.  When someone would bump into him he would give them the stink eye and scream at them.  It was hilarious.... then we took him back to the boats.

We had to drag Chase out of the park shortly before it closed.  His favorite ride was the Rock O Plane (a star shaped ferris wheel where the little cages you sit it could swing around and upside down.  He also loved the roller coasters.  We spent over 8 hours there and he loved every minute of it.  Brody enjoyed certain minutes of it.   We loved watching the boys and their joy as they found rides that they loved.  I couldn't believe how even some of the kiddie rides scared me.  Sometimes I would think that Chase was getting scared and would reach over and grab his hand and he would tell me "don't do that mom.  I'm not scared!"  He was braver than I was.

A movie and a shoping trip

Tuesday we got back from camping.  After we showered we were too tired to do any of our previously planned activities, so we headed over to the Dollar theater to see the Lorax.  The boys were so tired the fell asleep the instant we buckled them in the car.

The movie was good and Chase loved every minute of it.

Brody endured it.


When we originally planned a California trip, we budgeted in a little money for each of the boys to get a souvenir.   Instead we decided to stop at Toy's R Us and let them spend the small amount of money there.

I remember my parents doing the same.  I loved walking up and down every single aisle and checking out all of my options.  I left with a new box of crayons and a coloring book every time.  There isn't much $10 will buy there, as the boys also found out, but they had so much fun looking at EVERYTHING.


Brody LOVES babies.  He can't resist kissing a little baby, and apparently the dolls at the store fit into that category.

He had us laughing the whole time.  This is his "backpack".  When he couldn't fit it on his shoulders he just had to carry it like that.

In the end Brody left with a trucks and Chase left with a nerf gun. 

Camping

Because we couldn't make it out on a real vacation, we have spoiled ourselves and the kids with some of the money we didn't use for a vacation.   We don't have a tent to fit our family so we got a new one and took it for a test ride.

Our history with camping hasn't been that great... it usually ends up with Brody crying all night and no one sleeping...

But this time it went wonderfully.  The boys both slept the WHOLE NIGHT.  Unfortunately the wind was so wild and the river was so loud that Daniel and I couldn't sleep.... Oh well.

We cooked breakfast and went on a little hike the next morning.

It was so much fun and we can't wait to get out and do it again.

A tired worn-out Brody.

I am loving this stage of life right now.  These kids are at such a fun age and we have so much together. 

Heber Railroad

When a hot deal popped up for the Heber Valley Railroad we couldn't miss out.

The boys loved it!  Chase couldn't get enough of looking out the window and telling us about how clickity-clackity the train was. Brody couldn't get enough of the cute girl behind him that kept giving him kisses.

It brought back a lot of memories of when we used to ride the train with my dad from Salt Lake to home on Christmas morning.

Another awesome vacation day!

Vacation time...

 We have a little vacation time while Daniel is between jobs. We kicked our vacation week off with a Jon Mclaughlin concert.  This is my new favorite musician, an amazing singer and piano player.  I have been begging to go ever since I knew he was coming to Salt Lake and Daniel gave me tickets for Mother's Day. One night when I was worrying about what I should wear to the event (surprisingly I don't frequent clubs so I was unsure of the dress code...) Daniel turned to me and said, "What I want to know is what the heck I am supposed to wear.  I don't own any skinny jeans and my hair isn't shaggy."  Apparently he was familiar with the mens dress code :)

We felt young again staying out late at the concert.  (The above picture was taken at midnight...)

It was a small concert and we got to stand right up by the stage.  A night I will never forget!

The boys stayed the night at the Hansen's and both had a blast!

Last day at work...

Daniel has wrapped up his 2 year career at ProvoCraft.  We are so grateful for the opportunity that they gave him there, but are really excited for the next adventure (particularly that it is a much shorter commute!)

The 3rd love of my life

This little guy absolutely refused to stop, look at the camera and smile, no matter how hard we tried and how many m&m's we bribed him with.

 He brings a lot of laughter to my life.  He's a funny little guy and will do just about anything to get us laughing. 

Despite the "terrible two" stage he's in, he has moments of total sweetness.  He freely gives hugs  and kisses to us and any little kid.  He loves to say "hi" and "bye" to everyone we pass, and especially loves Chase's friends.

He's  Mr. Independent and constantly congratulates himself with a cheer and an "I did it!"
