Day 8- Leaving on a jet plane

June 22, 2009

I've been procrastinating this post because that means the trip is officially over. As my mom put it, it's almost been as fun reliving it through the pictures. I still have a few more pictures I havn't gotten to yet, so you may see a few more, but this is the end of our trip.

The morning started off relaxing. I was given the advice to stop by a fruit stand and by oranges while in Florida- no matter what. So we did and they weren't very good. We learned from Camille that they were probably juicing oranges and she made us fresh orange juice. She was right- the juice was delicious!

And then we left for home. We drove back to Tampa. Getting on the airplane wasn't as easy. We were stopped going through security. As the security guard was watching our stuff go through on the screen he started calling other security guards over and soon there were 4 of them watching the screen. Then one came up to Daniel and said "Sir, we have a problem with your bag." They pulled him aside and left me there with all our stuff except the camelback (the problem bag). I had my shoes off, Chase's shoes off, the stroller folded up and him in my arms plus the camera bag and laptop, which had to be taken out of the case for security. Meanwhile they had taken Daniel back through the security gates and to who knows where.

Turns out water is not allowed through Tampa security so they simply had to go empty the camelback- that's what the big deal was all about.

The flight home was significantly better. Chase was still very active and jumped from my lap to Daniels lap, but he wasn't tired and angry this time. We are freezing back in Salt Lake now, but I'm enjoying being able to fix my hair straight again. :)

Cute picture of Chase. Isn't Airport security fun? We got stopped on our way out of france because of a suspicious lump of something in Brennan's bag, which turned out to be his scriptures :} They were also pretty suspicious of and used a security wand on my camera when we left Utah, but in France they didn't look twice at it. Go figure!
